What each part of the prompt does
- Colour discipline
- The tree is "decorated only in gold and champagne", so the picture has three colours: red, gold and skin tones. A short palette is what makes it look styled rather than busy.
- Fabric named
- Velvet on the gown and on the chair gives the light something rich to fall on. Naming the fabric matters more than naming the colour.
- Studio lighting terms
- "Soft beauty lighting from the front" and "a warm rim light on the hair" are the two lights a portrait photographer would set, and the model copies that look closely.
- Seated pose
- A seated pose in an armchair is relaxed and formal at once, and it keeps the gown from needing a full-length frame.
Variations to try
Same idea, one thing changed. These have no example image yet.
Black velvet suit Keep the face from my uploaded photo exactly as it is. Create a glamorous Christmas studio portrait: the person wears a black velvet tuxedo jacket, a crisp white shirt and a black bow tie, and sits on a gold velvet armchair. Behind them stands a tall Christmas tree decorated only in gold and champagne baubles, with hundreds of tiny warm lights. Soft beauty lighting from the front, a warm rim light on the hair, rich colour, polished magazine finish, 4:5 frame.
Emerald gown Keep the face from my uploaded photo exactly as it is. Create a glamorous Christmas studio portrait: the person wears a deep emerald green velvet gown and small gold earrings, and sits on a gold velvet armchair. Behind them stands a tall Christmas tree decorated only in gold and champagne baubles, with hundreds of tiny warm lights. Soft beauty lighting from the front, a warm rim light on the hair, rich colour, polished magazine finish, 4:5 frame.
Silver and white tree Keep the face from my uploaded photo exactly as it is. Create a glamorous Christmas studio portrait: the person wears a deep red velvet gown and small silver earrings, and sits on a white velvet armchair. Behind them stands a tall Christmas tree decorated only in silver and white baubles, with hundreds of tiny warm lights. Soft beauty lighting from the front, a warm rim light on the hair, rich colour, polished magazine finish, 4:5 frame.
If the result isn't right
- If the outfit changes your body shape, add "keep my body proportions as in the photo".
- When the make-up looks heavier than you want, ask for "light natural make-up" or "no make-up".
- If the tree lights blow out into a white haze, request "tiny distinct points of light, background slightly darker".
- For a square Instagram crop, write "1:1 frame, armchair and face centred".
