About these prompts

Christmas photo prompts are instructions you paste into Gemini or ChatGPT together with a photo, and the model returns a festive version of it: your family by the tree, the two of you in matching pajamas, your dog in a Santa hat, or Santa caught leaving presents in your own living room. Each prompt tells the model what to keep from your photo (faces, a pet's markings, a product's label) and what to change.

The prompts cover solo portraits, couples, families, children, pets, your home and products for a shop, in snowy scenes and in warm-weather settings such as a Kerala veranda lit by star lanterns. Most are written for Nano Banana, the image model inside Gemini, and work in ChatGPT with image generation too. Several have a blank in brackets for a name or caption, so the card or stocking carries your own words.

How to use these prompts

  1. 101Pick the right photoUse a sharp photo with every face clear and facing the camera. For family and group prompts, every person should be in one photo; for pets, shoot at their eye level; for the living room prompt, photograph the room at night with the tree lights on.
  2. 202Fill the blanks, then pasteReplace anything in square brackets, such as [FAMILY NAME] or [PET NAME], with your own text. Upload the photo in Gemini or ChatGPT and send the prompt in the same message.
  3. 303Fix one thing per replyIf a face drifts, a person goes missing or a name is misspelled, reply with that one correction, for example "keep all five people" or "the stocking reads Bruno", rather than rewriting the whole prompt.

Questions

1Should I use Gemini or ChatGPT for Christmas photos?
Both work. Gemini's Nano Banana usually keeps faces closer to the uploaded photo, which matters most for family and couple prompts. ChatGPT is good at the playful studio styles and at printing text on cards. If one changes a face too much, paste the same prompt into the other.
2Can I make a family Christmas photo from separate photos?
Yes. Upload the photos in one message and say who goes where, for example "the person in the first photo stands on the left". Faces hold up best when the photos have similar light and angles. Always state how many people should appear so nobody is added or dropped.
3How do I put our names on a Christmas card?
Use a prompt with a blank such as [FAMILY NAME] and type your name in its place, keeping the quotation marks around the text. Short names print more reliably than long ones. Check the spelling in the result before you print or send it.
4Is it safe to upload photos of my children?
Your photo goes to the app you use under that company's privacy terms, not to us; this page only gives you the text. Only upload photos of your own children, or with their parents' permission, and check the app's settings for whether your images are used for training.
5Do these work for pets and products?
Yes. The pet prompt asks the model to keep the breed, fur colours and markings, and the product prompts ask it to keep the shape, label and logo. Describe a distinctive marking or label in words if the first result changes it.
6What if I want a Christmas scene that is not here?
Describe the scene in the image prompt generator and it writes a prompt for the model you use, or upload a festive photo you like to image to prompt and get a prompt that recreates its style. Both are free and linked on this page.
