About these prompts

AI photo editing prompts ask an image model to change one thing in your photo and leave the rest alone: the background, the light, the outfit, the people behind you, or the damage on an old print. Gemini's Nano Banana model is good at this kind of targeted edit when the prompt says clearly what must not change.

Each prompt below shows the original sample photo and the edited result from Nano Banana Pro. The people in the samples are AI-generated.

How to use these prompts

  1. 101Upload the photo you want to fixUse the largest version you have. For old prints, scan or photograph them flat, in daylight, without glare.
  2. 202Say what changes and what staysEach prompt names the single change and then lists what must stay exactly the same. Keep that second part when you edit the prompt.
  3. 303Edit in stepsFor several changes, do them one message at a time: restore first, then colourise, then change the background.

Questions

1Will an AI edit change my face?
It can. Prompts that say "keep the face exactly the same" and name only one change keep faces far better than open requests like "make this better".
2Can Gemini restore old photos?
Yes. It can remove scratches, creases and dust and recover faded detail. Check faces closely afterwards, because restoration can invent detail that was never in the original.
3Does the edited photo keep the same size?
Not always. Image models often return a different resolution. The prompts ask for the same framing and aspect ratio, and you can upscale the result afterwards.
4Can I use these for product or listing photos?
The background and relight prompts work on products as well as people. Replace "the person" with your product and keep the line about leaving it unchanged.
