What each part of the prompt does
- The look in layers
- Base, eyes, liner, mascara, brows, cheeks and lips are each named. Gemini applies what it is told, so a full list prevents a result where the eyes are done and the lips are forgotten.
- Matched base
- "Matched to their skin tone" stops the common problem of foundation lightening the face. It keeps the person looking like themselves with makeup on.
- Only the makeup
- The long keep list covers features, hair, clothes and background. Makeup prompts are a frequent trigger for face slimming and new hair, and this sentence closes that off.
- Skin stays skin
- Asking for visible pores under the makeup avoids the airbrushed beauty-filter look. Real makeup sits on textured skin, and the result is more believable for it.
Variations to try
Same idea, one thing changed. These have no example image yet.
Classic red lip evening Apply a classic evening makeup look to the person in my uploaded photo: matte base matched to their skin tone, a winged black liner, full lashes, defined brows, a soft contour under the cheekbones and a true red matte lip. Keep the face shape, features, skin tone, hair, expression, pose, clothes and background exactly the same; only the makeup changes. Real skin texture with visible pores under the makeup, no smoothing or reshaping. Same framing as the original.
Bridal Apply a long-wear bridal makeup look to the person in my uploaded photo: luminous base matched to their skin tone, champagne shimmer on the lids, soft brown smoky outer corners, full fluttery lashes, rosy blush, a subtle highlight on the cheekbones and a rose pink lip. Keep the face shape, features, skin tone, hair, expression, pose, clothes and background exactly the same; only the makeup changes. Real skin texture with visible pores under the makeup, no smoothing or reshaping. Same framing as the original.
No-makeup makeup Apply a barely-there natural makeup look to the person in my uploaded photo: sheer skin tint matched to their skin tone, concealer only where needed, brushed-up brows, one coat of brown mascara, a hint of cream blush and a tinted lip balm. Keep the face shape, features, skin tone, hair, expression, pose, clothes and background exactly the same; only the makeup changes. Real skin texture with visible pores under the makeup, no smoothing or reshaping. Same framing as the original.
If the result isn't right
- If your face shape changes, add "do not slim, lift or reshape any feature".
- When the colours look too strong, ask for "half the intensity, as if applied with a light hand".
- Gemini may add earrings or change the hair; reply "no jewellery or hair changes, makeup only".
- Compare against your original at the same size on screen, since small photos hide how a lip colour really reads.
