What each part of the prompt does
- A drop to wait for
- The drop that gathers at the tip and falls is the event of the clip. Background rain alone is pretty but gives the eye nothing to follow.
- Locked, not drifting
- A still macro camera keeps the leaf tip in the exact plane of focus. At this distance even a small camera move turns the sharp area to mush.
- Overcast light
- Rain under a bright sun looks staged. Soft grey light matches the weather and puts small, even highlights on each bead of water.
- Glossy, broad leaves
- Waxy tropical leaves make water bead into round drops, which read far better on camera than water soaking into a matte surface.
Variations to try
Same idea, one thing changed. These have no clip yet.
Morning dew in sun Extreme macro of a blade of grass and a fern frond covered in morning dew. Motion: slow motion, a dew drop slides down the blade and joins a larger drop at the tip, which trembles in a light breeze. Camera: macro lens, locked off, very shallow depth of field. Setting and light: low early sun from behind, each drop glowing like a tiny lens, golden bokeh behind. Style: nature documentary macro, warm greens and gold. Sound: morning birdsong. Duration: 5 seconds.
Vertical rain loop Extreme macro of a single broad, glossy tropical leaf hanging down in a light rain. Motion: raindrops tap the leaf, water runs along the central vein and drips from the tip at a steady rhythm. Camera: macro lens, locked off, the leaf tip in the lower third. Setting and light: soft overcast daylight, dark green leaves blurred behind. Style: calm nature macro, rich greens. Sound: steady soft rain. Duration: 5 seconds, vertical 9:16.
If the result isn't right
- To loop the clip, trim it to start and end between falls, while the tip is holding a small drop.
- For a moodier palette, ask for a dark purple or deep green leaf. Describe the colour and texture instead of a plant species if the leaf shape comes out wrong.
- Add "a small snail on the stem" for a second focal point, but only after the plain version works.
