What each part of the prompt does
- Recognisable and unchanged
- Painting styles soften features, so the identity line says "recognisable" as well as "unchanged"; it allows brush texture on the skin while still asking for your face.
- Court costume
- A brocade sherwani in deep blue and gold, a pearl necklace and a jewelled turban point toward Indian court portraits, a far more specific look than a generic "king" prompt produces.
- Room as background
- Heavy velvet curtains and a window onto palace gardens follow the classic portrait layout: a dark interior with a glimpse of the outside world.
- Paint, not photo
- "Visible brush strokes" and "warm varnished tones" push the result into paint, and "dramatic side light" gives the strong light and dark of old court portraits.
Variations to try
Same idea, one thing changed. These have no example image yet.
Queen in a lehenga Turn my uploaded photo into a classical royal oil painting while keeping the face recognisable and unchanged. The person sits on a carved wooden throne in a deep red silk lehenga with gold zari work, a kundan necklace and a maang tikka. Behind them hang heavy velvet curtains and a window looking onto palace gardens. Rich oil paint texture, visible brush strokes, warm varnished tones, dramatic side light. 4:5 portrait.
European court Turn my uploaded photo into a classical royal oil painting while keeping the face recognisable and unchanged. The person sits on a carved gilded throne in a red velvet robe with an ermine collar, a heavy gold chain and a jewelled crown. Behind them hang dark green velvet curtains and a window looking onto formal palace gardens. Rich oil paint texture, visible brush strokes, warm varnished tones, dramatic side light. 4:5 portrait.
Emerald and gold Turn my uploaded photo into a classical royal oil painting while keeping the face recognisable and unchanged. The person sits on a carved wooden throne in a brocade sherwani of emerald green and gold, with a pearl necklace and a jewelled turban. Behind them hang heavy velvet curtains and a window looking onto palace gardens. Rich oil paint texture, visible brush strokes, warm varnished tones, dramatic side light. 4:5 portrait.
If the result isn't right
- If it looks like a photo with a filter, ask for "thick oil paint, canvas texture visible, painted by hand".
- When the turban covers the forehead or changes the face shape, say "turban sits higher, keep my forehead and hairline visible".
- Gemini may add a beard or moustache to suit the royal theme; type "no added facial hair, keep it as in my photo".
- If the throne crowds the frame, add "three-quarter length portrait, throne partly visible".
