What each part of the prompt does

Title in quotes
The title sits inside quotation marks after a colon, "[TITLE]", which tells Gemini these exact letters must be printed. Two or three short words are much easier for the model to spell than a long title.
Tagline
"In cinemas this winter" is a fixed second line that makes the layout look like a real poster. It uses British wording; change it to "In theaters this winter" for an American feel.
Orange and teal
Orange and teal is the classic blockbuster colour grade. Naming it together with dusk gives warm skin against a cool background, so the face stands out.
Foreground figure
"Stands in the foreground" with "looking straight at the camera" keeps the person large and central, leaving space at the bottom for the title block.

Variations to try

Same idea, one thing changed. These have no example image yet.

  • Horror poster

Turn my uploaded photo into a cinematic horror movie poster, keeping the face exactly the same. The person stands in the foreground in a dark wool coat, looking straight at the camera with a wary expression. Behind them is a misty forest at night under a full moon, with an old house glowing faintly between the trees. The title sits at the bottom in large cracked letters: "[TITLE]", with the line "In cinemas this October" underneath. Cold blue light, deep shadows, high contrast, 2:3 poster frame.

  • Romance poster

Turn my uploaded photo into a cinematic romance movie poster, keeping the face exactly the same. The person stands in the foreground in a long camel coat, a scarf moving in the wind, looking straight at the camera with a soft smile. Behind them is a rain-washed bridge at dusk with warm city lights reflected in the river. The title sits at the bottom in large elegant letters: "[TITLE]", with the line "In cinemas this winter" underneath. Warm golden light, soft contrast, 2:3 poster frame.

  • Science fiction poster

Turn my uploaded photo into a cinematic science fiction movie poster, keeping the face exactly the same. The person stands in the foreground in a worn silver flight suit, looking straight at the camera. Behind them is a red desert planet under two moons, with a large spaceship descending through the dust. The title sits at the bottom in large bold letters: "[TITLE]", with the line "In cinemas this winter" underneath. Dramatic rim lighting, high contrast, 2:3 poster frame.

If the result isn't right

  • If the title is misspelled, reply with just the fix: "The title must read exactly LAST SIGNAL, in capital letters", using your own title.
  • Gemini sometimes adds fake credits that turn into gibberish; add "no other text on the poster apart from the title and the tagline".
  • When the poster comes back square, say "make it a tall 2:3 poster, taller than it is wide".
  • If the jacket collar or hair hides part of the face, ask for "hair blown back, face fully visible".
