About these prompts

These career prompts cover the writing and practice around a job search: matching your resume to one posting, a cover letter built on a single piece of work you can prove, a mock interview that asks follow-up questions, an About section for your LinkedIn profile, what to say at a career fair, and a plan for moving into a new field from the skills you already have.

Each one works from your real material. You paste the job post, your resume or your notes into the fields in square brackets, and the prompt tells the assistant to use only those facts, so it does not invent a title, a number or an employer you never had.

How to use these prompts

  1. 101Start with the job postPaste the full posting, not a summary. The resume, cover letter and interview prompts read the requirements from it and line your experience up against them.
  2. 202Give it real examplesAdd one or two pieces of work with what you did and what changed. A concrete result gives the assistant something specific to write about instead of adjectives.
  3. 303Check every claim before you sendRead the output against your own record. Remove anything you cannot back up in an interview, and fill any gap the prompt marked for you.

Questions

1Will recruiters notice the text was written with AI?
They notice generic text more than they notice AI. The prompts build each letter or summary around your own examples and the employer's posting, which reads as specific. Edit the result in your own words before sending it.
2Is it safe to paste my resume into an assistant?
Remove your phone number, home address and anything else the task does not need. Check the assistant's data settings if you would rather your text is not used for training.
3Can these prompts get me past applicant tracking systems?
They help you use the posting's own words for skills you really have, which is what those systems match on. They cannot make up for a missing requirement, and nobody can promise a result.
4Which assistant should I use?
Each prompt names the assistant it was written for, but all of them work in ChatGPT, Claude and Gemini, including the free versions.
