What each part of the prompt does
- Invented masthead
- "NORTHLIGHT" is a made-up title, so the cover does not borrow a real magazine's name. It is a single word in capitals, which helps it print cleanly.
- Your name in quotes
- The cover line "[YOUR NAME]: the new faces of 2026" puts your name inside quoted text, so Gemini prints it rather than paraphrasing. If a full name keeps coming out wrong, use just the first name.
- Pose and outfit
- A tailored ivory blazer and "one hand on my collar" is a classic cover pose that brings a hand near the face without covering it.
- Cover furniture
- White cover lines on the left, a small barcode in the bottom corner and glossy editorial light are the details that make it read as a printed cover, not a portrait with words on top.
Variations to try
Same idea, one thing changed. These have no example image yet.
Business magazine Turn my uploaded photo into a business magazine cover. Keep my face exactly the same. I wear a dark navy suit and stand with arms loosely crossed against a deep blue studio backdrop. A large bold serif masthead at the top reads "LEDGER". Cover lines on the left in white: "[YOUR NAME]: building what comes next" and "Ideas, work and the year ahead". A small barcode in the bottom corner. Crisp editorial lighting, 3:4 portrait frame.
Black on black Turn my uploaded photo into a fashion magazine cover. Keep my face exactly the same. I wear a tailored black blazer and pose with one hand on my collar against a deep black studio backdrop. A large bold serif masthead at the top reads "NORTHLIGHT". Cover lines on the left in white: "[YOUR NAME]: the new faces of 2026" and "Style, work and what comes next". A small barcode in the bottom corner. Glossy editorial lighting with a soft edge light, 3:4 portrait frame.
Green suit Turn my uploaded photo into a fashion magazine cover. Keep my face exactly the same. I wear a dark green double-breasted suit and pose with one hand on my collar against a soft peach studio backdrop. A large bold serif masthead at the top reads "NORTHLIGHT". Cover lines on the left in white: "[YOUR NAME]: the new faces of 2026" and "Style, work and what comes next". A small barcode in the bottom corner. Glossy editorial lighting, 3:4 portrait frame.
If the result isn't right
- If the masthead is misspelled, reply "the masthead reads NORTHLIGHT, ten letters, all capitals".
- Cover lines sometimes run across the face; ask for "all text in the left third, nothing over the face".
- If Gemini adds extra cover lines in gibberish, type "only the masthead, the two cover lines and the barcode, no other text".
- Should the cover come back square, follow up with "redo as a 3:4 vertical cover".
