What each part of the prompt does
- Clear umbrella
- A clear umbrella lets the neon and raindrops show through above the head, instead of a black shape cutting off the top of a tall frame.
- Two neon colours
- "Pink and teal neon" limits the palette to two complementary colours, giving a controlled cinematic look rather than a rainbow of signs.
- Wet pavement
- "The wet pavement reflects" is the detail that sells rain at night, and the reflections fill the lower half of a vertical frame that would otherwise be empty.
- Eye-level 50mm
- "50mm lens at eye level" gives a natural perspective close to how people see a street, and shallow depth of field turns the headlights into round blurred circles.
Variations to try
Same idea, one thing changed. These have no example image yet.
Red umbrella Place the person from my uploaded photo on a busy city street at night in the rain, keeping their face and features unchanged. They hold a red umbrella and wear a dark trench coat; the wet pavement reflects pink and teal neon signs, and out-of-focus headlights glow behind them. Cinematic colour grade, raindrops caught in the light, 50mm lens at eye level, shallow depth of field. Vertical 9:16 frame.
Lantern alley Place the person from my uploaded photo in a narrow city alley at night in the rain, keeping their face and features unchanged. They hold a clear umbrella and wear a dark trench coat; the wet ground reflects rows of glowing paper lanterns and small lit bar signs, and steam rises from a doorway behind them. Cinematic colour grade, raindrops caught in the light, 50mm lens at eye level, shallow depth of field. Vertical 9:16 frame.
Snow instead of rain Place the person from my uploaded photo on a busy city street at night in falling snow, keeping their face and features unchanged. They hold a clear umbrella and wear a dark wool coat and scarf; the snowy pavement reflects pink and teal neon signs, and out-of-focus headlights glow behind them. Cinematic colour grade, snowflakes caught in the light, 50mm lens at eye level, shallow depth of field. Vertical 9:16 frame.
If the result isn't right
- If Gemini returns a square or 3:4 image, write "vertical 9:16, phone screen shape" on its own line at the end.
- Neon can tint your skin pink or green; ask for "neon colour on the edges only, natural skin tone on the face".
- When the umbrella blocks the face, specify "umbrella held high and tilted back, face fully visible below it".
- If the rain is barely visible, add "raindrops lit by the street lights, visible streaks in front of the person".
